ADR-001: Supported Browsers and Form Factors

Context

The directive in responsive_web.md demands that the supported browsers and device form factors are documented in an ADR. The Robot Operator uses the Web App on a notebook or on a phone.

Decision

The Web App supports the current versions of Chromium-based browsers, Firefox, and Safari, on desktop and mobile devices. Automated tests run in Chromium only.

Alternatives

• Chromium only: too narrow for phones; every browser on iOS uses WebKit.
• Automated tests in all three browsers: more CI time without benefit for a single Robot Operator.

Consequences

• Firefox and Safari are checked by hand, by sample.
• Older browser versions are not supported, so the Web App needs no polyfills.
